Free Form Requisites

A Midland University English major will be able to:

1: Analyze literary works for genre, form, and language.

2: Contextualize literary works across multiple contexts.

3: Employ rhetorical theory or literary criticism in the creation of researched academic arguments.

4: Apply critical theory to literary practice in independent scholarship

Completion requirement
Complete ALL of the following Courses:
  • ENG110
  • ENG203
  • ENG204
  • ENG220
  • ENG315
  • ENG316
  • ENG350
  • ENG420
  • ENG460
    OR
    ENG461

Students may complete ENG237 World Voices in place of one of the following courses: ENG203, ENG204, ENG315, or ENG316.

ENG460/ENG461 thesis is required at 3 credits.

Earn at least 3 credits from the following:
  • ENG230
  • ENG234
  • ENG240
Complete at least 2 of the following Courses:
  • ENG140
  • ENG180
  • ENG190
  • ENG210
  • ENG230
  • ENG237
  • ENG242
  • ENG440
  • ENG450
  • ENG496
  • ENG499

ENG450, ENG496, & ENG499 are required at 3 credits to fulfill the elective requirement.
